Most of last week was wet for North Islanders and for people in Nelson. New Year’s Eve celebrations were cancelled in many towns. Roads were closed in the Bay of Plenty because of flooding. Many workers are on holiday from Christmas until January 9th. A camping holiday is popular in the summer and thousands of families are camping in tents. It is very unpleasant in a tent when it is raining. However, the weather should start to improve in the next day or two.
The best place to be for sunny weather is Central Otago. Queenstown, Wanaka and Alexandra have had fine warm weather all week.
