The long-awaited season eleven of British TV series Dr Who is now screening on Television New Zealand. This very popular science-fiction show began in 1964 and tells the story of an Alien who looks human and can travel in time and space. Every few years, the Doctor dies and takes on a new human body, and this allows new actors to have a chance to play the Doctor. Dr Who also has a sidekick, usually a beautiful woman, and she also changes every few years. The show features historical stories as Dr Who and his companion travel in time, and also stories of space travel and visits to the future. There are a lot of aliens and ghost stories in Dr Who episodes, and many New Zealand children have been forbidden from watching it because it gives them nightmares.
The reason this new season has been anticipated with so much excitement is that this year the new Dr Who is being played by a woman, Jodie Whittaker.
If you want to try watching Dr Who, you can see it on TV One, or on the TVNZ website. If you want to watch the previous seasons first, you could watch them on Netflix.
