Lydia Ko, champion golfer

Lydia Ko is once more in the news. She won a major tournament in France, making her the youngest woman to win a major. She is 18 years, 4 months and 20 days old.

After 3 days of play, she was third equal with 8 under par. However, on the final day, yesterday, she shot 8 birdies to give her another 8 under par. In the end she was 6 shots ahead of the second woman. She seemed quite surprised herself at her success but said, “. . . it’s definitely one of the top rounds of my whole entire life, and I’m sure it will be in my career.” She is now looking forward to the Rio Olympics next year.

She appears to be a relaxed player but has excellent concentration and is very accurate. She is going back to Florida now to prepare for the Asian tournament.

She has said in the past that she plans to retire at the age of 30.
