Birth Statistics

Listen to August 19th 2010 to hear about more babies born in New Zealand.

It is interesting that more women these days are deciding not to have children. The last census, in 2006, showed 13% of women aged between 45 and 49 were childless whereas in 1981, 9% of women in this age group had no children.

• census: counting people every 5 years (because of the Christchurch earthquake in Feb 2011, the March 2011 census was postponed for 2 years)
