Gisborne is the city for 2 Music festivals: BW which started 2 days ago, followed by Rhythm and Vines. It starts tonight and continues until the morning of January 1st.
Rhythm and Vines is held in a vineyard in Gisborne. Most of the young people who attend bring a tent and stay in a campground. At the moment the weather looks good for the next 2 days but it could rain on New Year’s Eve.
More than 70 New Zealand and international bands will play during those three days. The last night is the most important as thousands want to see the New Year in. Last year, about 25,000 people attended the Rhythm and Vines festival on New Year’s Eve.
The festival started in 2003 when it was just one day, New Year’s Eve. In 2008 it expanded to 3 days with 4 stages for performers. This is now the biggest New Year’s Eve festival in New Zealand.
