Spring

The first of September is the beginning of Spring. September, October and November are the 3 months of Spring. This year, we have been lucky enough to have Spring weather today for most of the country but quite often we have cold and miserable weather instead. That can still happen this month.

Apart from the weather, signs of Spring are all around us. Blossom on fruit trees attracts bees. Daffodils and other bulbs are starting to flower. Birds have probably built their nests by now, ready to lay eggs. Lambs on farms stay close to their mothers for a ready supply of milk.

The days are getting longer. The equinox, when the day and night is almost equal, is September 23rd. The term equinox comes from the Latin words aequus, meaning equal and nox, meaning night. We move our clocks forward one hour on September 25th for Daylight Saving.
