New Zealanders celebrate Guy Fawkes by watching fireworks display or by having their own fireworks.
Note that fireworks can only be sold between November 2nd and 5th. If you buy your own fireworks, be very careful about safety, especially the safety of children and animals.
Most cities have a free public fireworks display. The Christchurch fireworks show will be held on New Brighton beach on Wednesday evening. Palmerston North also holds a fireworks display on the same evening, at Anzac Park. Wellington is choosing to hold their show the following Saturday, November 8th, on the waterfront as usual. Check when and where your city is holding a public fireworks display. Phone your council if you can’t find out.
