The annual event called Fieldays at Mystery Creek in Hamilton began yesterday and will continue until Saturday. Last year 133,588 people attended over the 4 days. This is the event where farmers come to see what new products, machinery, technology and new ideas are available. Each year, official visitors from many countries visit to find out more about NZ farming.
This year, the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern attended, accompanied by her partner and some other politicians like the Minister of Agriculture. Hamilton is one and a half hours by car from Auckland so not too far from Auckland hospital where she plans to go for her baby’s birth in the next few days. She admitted that at 39 weeks in her pregnancy, she is not very comfortable but she appeared to enjoy her visit. Like many other visitors at Mystery Creek, she was wearing farming gumboots because the ground can be muddy after so much rain.
Listen to June 16 2017 and June 13 2012 for more information about Fieldays.
