New Zealand Fashion Week

New Zealand Fashion Week starts today at Auckland’s Viaduct Events centre. This is New Zealand’s biggest fashion event. It attracts international designers and buyers. All New Zealand’s well known designers are showing their best fashion designs.

The first three days are for trade buyers, New Zealand and international buyers for shops. Then on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, it is open to the public. There are fashion shows with models displaying the latest fashions on the catwalk. One special event is a Gay Wedding display with matching bridal dresses for a same-sex wedding. Also Trelise Cooper again has a show of her adult and children’s clothes, using celebrities as models. Trelise is one of New Zealand’s most successful fashion designers.

Perhaps the biggest attraction for local people is the Designer Garage Show at the weekend – an opportunity to buy men’s and women’s designer wear at bargain prices.
