Ragamuffin Festival

The Raggamuffin Festival is a Reggae music festival held in Rotorua today and Saturday. It has been held in Rotorua since 2008.

A large group of musicians tour Australia first then come to Rotorua. There are international musicians as well as many New Zealand groups and soloists. Damian Marley, son of Bob Marley, is amongst the musicians.

The programme starts at 4pm this afternoon with bands until 11pm. Tomorrow it runs from 10am until 11pm.

New Zealand has many outdoor music festivals in summer including The Big Day Out in Auckland on January 17th, and the Parachute Christian Music Festival in Hamilton last weekend.

Vocabulary and grammar usage

Note these useful expressions: a festival / concert / market / fair is held
“it runs from … until …”

Note: present perfect tense for something begun in the past and continuing until the present: “It has been held since 2008.”
